Cymande - Early 70's funk

Cymande’s notable contributions to the world of music have been sampled by De La Soul, Masta Ace, and The Fugees among others. Cymande’s music fills a niche of funk with the likes of War and Mandrill. But Cymande is probably the lesser known of this type of funk. It combines world-wide elements of reggae and jazz, which becomes a very chill kind of funk music. Really great for just sitting back and listening on the hifi or some good headphones.

Hijacking some vinyl… the Soup

In the Lab. Turntables, computer, mixer in the drawer, lots of stereo components. And last - but definitely not least - some vinyl.

After learning about MJ’s death, I realized I hadn’t listened to his music for awhile. Travesty, I said to myself. My wife has a fair amount of his music in her collection, so I took out my favorites. What could I do to have the music more immediate? I wanted to listen to some of his songs to really break ‘em down for the beats and rhythms. I listen to a lot of my music on my computer (and my iPod.) It is easy to drop and play music on the Pod. But I really like to have music digitally for sampling too.

This is where the program Audio Hijack Pro comes in. It allows to just jack in my mixer to my computer and burn a lossless recording to the harddrive. I liiiikkke it!
